Mike and Laura’s wedding was such a romantic and personalized day. It was truly a beautiful wedding and the perfect day of celebrating their love. From the vows, to first dance, to speeches, to parent dances – everything was so personalized. Which only made everyone there feel all the emotions and fall in love with their love. It really wasn’t a typical wedding, but don’t take my word for it. Let’s dig in to this romantic, summer La Toundra wedding!
All The Special Touches
Every detail of this wedding was from the heart. It really touched me and every single guest seeing all the special touches they put throughout their day. Mike and Laura had been together for 10 years! They both made their vows around 10 years of being together. It was adorable and emotional to see their love and hear about their journey for the last 10 years.
Mike surprised his mom by changing into his military suite for his mother-son dance. You can see the photos of her shocked and emotional as he walked in, in the gallery below. There wasn’t a dry eye in the reception once everyone realized what was going on! Overall everything was just so emotional and intentional. It truly was a beautiful display of their love for one another and a celebration of the next journey of their life. The married life!
The Venue: La Toundra in Pac Jean Drapeau
This wedding was at La Toundra in Parc Jean Drapeau. It’s a gorgeous venue, located in the heart of the Floralies Gardens. The hall has large, floor to ceiling windows to let in all the light for your reception. There is also a magnificent view of downtown Montreal! I would definitely recommend this venue for any of my couples looking to get married in Montreal.
But if you do want to get married here, I would highly recommend hiring a planner. They can take care of all the set up! If you don’t have a planner, there’s no way for you and your family to set up both the ceremony and reception on time. For this particular venue, set up starts no earlier than 11AM and the ceremony begins at 3PM. There isn’t much wiggle room. Which also means the reception will have to be set up pretty quickly. Don’t put the stress on you or your family to set it up in time. The planner will come up with a plan for set up and can do it with little to no stress from you!
The hall has a capacity of 180 people for a typical reception set up. There is a terrace with a lounge space and furniture to rent. If you are renting any furniture, the venue doesn’t consider that as part of their service. This means that you are not allowed to use any of their ladders, trollies, etc to move any furniture that you rent. Which is another great reason to hire a planner!
There is even a video projector set up, which Mike and Laura took advantage of. They played a cute little video that had everyone laughing and crying.
